NIFF Overview
The National Inshore Fisheries Forum (NIFF) provides a national platform at which each of the regional forums can interact with each other and with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the marine agencies. The National Inshore Fisheries Forum is composed of two delegates representing each of the Regional Inshore Fisheries Forums and appoints its own chair. The NIFF is facilitated by the statutory bodies responsible for marine fisheries in Ireland, namely Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Bord Iasciagh Mhara, Sea Fisheries Protection Authority and the Marine Institute. The purpose of the Forums is primarily to develop and facilitate implementation of policies and initiatives relating to the sustainable management of inshore fisheries within six nautical miles.
