Public Consultation on Review of Replacement Capacity Requirements

Submission are invited on the following proposals to review sea-fishing boat licensing policy:-

a) The Irish South & West Fish Producers’ Oganisation (ISWFPO) has requested a change in licensing policy to amend the 100% replacement capacity rule to 80% and to allow flexibility between segments, between sub-segments an in relation to fishing effort (cod recovery for Area VIa and Area VIIa) and scallop effort;

b) The Killybegs Fishermen’s organisation (KFO) has requested a review of the effort regime for the RSW Pelagic Segment vessels.

The Consultation Document found in the link here sets out the background to the current fleet policy and an analysis of the current situation. The document examines the implications of the proposals made by the Producer Organisation and also puts forward alternative options.

The consultation period for these proposals has been extended from Wednesday 30th November 2016 to 5:00 pm Tuesday 28th February 2017.
